essential guide

Preparing for your journey to Sebatu? We are here to help you settle in. Here you will find everything you need to know before arriving at The Asiki—from what to expect in our highland setting to details about our rice field dining and transportation.

Let us guide you so you can focus on disconnecting.

our philosophy & service

The Asiki is curated by Gede and a close-knit team from the local village. We blend the genuine warmth of a Balinese family home with the professional standards of a boutique resort.

Unlike rustic homestays, we offer 24-hour staff availability. Whether you need a late check-in, a midnight snack, or an early morning tour, someone is always on site to assist.

We respect your privacy above all else. Daily housekeeping is available, but we will never enter your private sanctuary without your permission. If you simply want to disappear into your villa for 3 days, we will leave your meals at the door and let you be.

living with nature

We are located in the heart of a living rice terrace ecosystem. This means you will wake up to the sound of birds and fall asleep to a chorus of frogs and crickets. This is the soundtrack of Sebatu.

The Industrial Advantage: Unlike open-air bamboo huts, The Asiki villas are fully enclosed with glass doors and air conditioning. This allows you to view the jungle without letting the insects in. However, when you are enjoying your outdoor pool or stone bath, you may encounter butterflies, geckos, or the occasional beetle. They are harmless neighbors in this lush environment.

Temperature: Sebatu is located in the highlands (higher altitude than Ubud). The air is fresh and crisp. While days are warm, evenings can be pleasantly cool—perfect for sleeping without AC if you prefer natural ventilation.

You don’t need to leave the sanctuary to eat well. The Asiki Eatery offers a complete culinary experience with views of the valley.

  • All-Day Dining: From 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, serving Indonesian classics and Italian favorites.
  • Room Service: Enjoy breakfast in bed, a Floating Breakfast in your pool, or a romantic candlelight dinner on your private deck.
  • Dietary Needs: We proudly serve Vegan, and Vegetarian.
  • The Bar: We serve cold Bintang, cocktails, and wine to accompany your sunset.

the location

We are located in Sebatu, a spiritual village just 20-25 minutes north of Ubud Center.

  • The Vibe: Peaceful, spiritual, and green. You won’t find nightclubs or traffic jams here. You will find ancient temples, holy water springs, and silence.
  • Nearby: We are walking distance to the famous Pura Gunung Kawi Sebatu (Holy Water Temple). The iconic Tegallalang Rice Terraces and Alas Harum are just a 10-15 minute drive.
  • The Trade-off: We are not in the city center. Grab/Gojek (ride-hailing apps) can drop you off here easily, but picking up from here can sometimes take longer. We recommend using our private drivers or renting a scooter for total freedom.
